The Christmas stocking post got me thinking about the realities of pulling off both Hannukah AND Christmas. DH is Jewish and I am Irish Catholic. This is how we decided to handle it.
Not that the first holiday season is going to be a big deal for the baby but the reality of it is still a little overwhelming! Yikes.
Re: Baby's First Hannukah and Christmas - Anyone else?
I'm overwhelmed simply by just having baby's first Christmas! My parents are divorced, plus with DH's family, that makes 3 families we have to make time for. Not to mention my dad's side is HUGE, which means we'd be playing pass the baby with a one month old in a house full of drunk cousins.
Not my cup of tea! We are gonna have to come up with some kind of compromise this year!
Same exact situation but we decided we are raising our son Jewish (having a bris etc.) I was raised catholic and haven't practiced in at least 15 years.
Looking forward to celebrating christmas with my family and giving 8 Hanukkah gifts!
Awesome!
DH isn't practicing. Organized religion terrifies him. It is his cultural background and his family practices so we want to have both represented.
Same situation- we are celebrating both holidays. In a way its really nice because there isn't a lot of running around on the actual holidays.
I can't wait- I just need to find some more nice Hanukkah decorations.
