2 weeks left..who decides to appear? my wisdom tooth

So i've got about 2 weeks left..and what deccides to make the right side of my face nice and swollen, as well as make me in so much pain i can't sleep??  Lets give all the thanks to my wisdom tooth. This is my dilemma..it's been coming in for a while, and i made an emergency trip to the dentist this past Tuesday...now I HAAAATE the dentist..and will only go for anything but a cleaning if it's absolutely necessary. I seriously couldn't count the hours down until my appointment. This is how much pain I am in.

So the right side of my face is swollen, dentist said pretty inflamed where the tooth is coming in, even though it's partially out. Starting to get infected (hence the swollen face). The more agonizing pain is my ear/jaw/ etc...They gave me antibiotics, strong ones, i've been taking them since Tuesday( yes not v ery long) but they decided no pain meds cuz I was prego. by the next morning of not sleeping due to my face being in pain and e ven sleeping on a heating pad, i called back and they calledm e ob, ok'ing tylenol w/ codeine....which hasn't helped

sooo off to the oral surgeon tomorrow..they said they will look at it and if they can get it out, they will w/ only novicaine. right now.. that is fine with me. i'd rather get it out and not have to be taking pain meds, because i definately can't handle this. I  can barely open my mouth and just the whole R side of my face just hurts so bad. Also giving me a headache! SO wish me luck ladies!!! Hopefully they get t his sucker out and i can deliver tooth pain free

Good luck.  You should be able to take Percocet or Vicoden.  I'm surprised they didn't prescribe it!

I am sorry you are dealing with it!  I had my wisdom teeth taken out with only novocaine, but I was given Vicodin for after, which I took for 2 days.  Just have lots of ice and tylenol on hand!

That sucks!  What terrible timing!  Hopefully you get to feeling better soon.

Yuck! I don't mean to be a downer, but when I had my wisdom teeth removed, they put me under... and then I was on percocets for 3 weeks! I cannot even imagine having it done with only Novocaine. I wish you the best of luck!

Good Luck with your oral surgery!  I had my wisdom teeth taken out when I was 16, and they removed mine with only Novocaine as well.  It wasn't that bad.  Hang in there!

Ugh terrible timing! I just got my wisdom teeth out in Jan and it was not near as bad as I was thinking it was going to be. I only took the pain killers for two days, hopefully they'll be able to give you something. GL!

Oh I feel for you!!! I've had one that has been coming, off and on. At one point in this pregnancy it was really painful like that for one night and miraculously fine the next. I hope you're pain-free and FAST!!! I'm pretty sure mine will have to be taken out at some point.

So so sorry about your wisdom tooth. Hope you are out of pain fast. BTW, I am a dental hygienist and just wanted to let you know that heat spreads infection so don't use a heating pad anymore, just use ice. Hope everything goes easily for you and you can get over this soon!

thank you everyone! I ended up calling my regular doc (i used to work w/ her) asking her to give me vicodin. lol I told her I didn't want to ask the dentist for something stronger cuz I didn't wanna seem like a "drug seeker" lol. ANYWAYS...

post tooth extraction...was NOT that bad..but lets just say i've had bad experiences at dentists and was probable more scared for this than actual labor! hahaha..tooth came out nice and easy..just sitting here w/ my mouth full of gauze, no pain yet. They said I shouldn't even be in any pain the next couple days, i have the vic's juuuust in case though. Can't wait to be able to sleep tonight w/o tooth/face/ear pain !!!
