Okay, more make up questions...

Tell me your absolute must-haves for the fall. ?I'm going to be asking for a Sephora gift card for my bday, so preferably stuff that I can get there. ?I need suggestions for it all--foundation, primers, blush, blah blah blah. ?

Brands and color palates, please. :-) ?Especially if you're dark haired, dark eyed and with fair-ish skin tone. ?(See how much help I need?! Pa-the-tic!)?

  • I love the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and foundation, NARS Multiple in Orgasm (LOVE it), and Urban Decay eye products.

  • Ditto on the Smashbox foundations.  Eclaires just tried the Sephora brand primer, and said it was as good, if not better than smashbox, and half the cost.  When I run out, I plan to get that instead of the smashbox.

I love the NARS pressed powder, as well as the orgasm (blush)/laguna (bronzer) combo.

    I like DiorShow mascara.

I wear the Smashbox eye-shadows, but would have to look up the colors.  I also love the smashbox o-glow for cheeks.

I wear either Stila or Smashbox eyeliner (I like the cream, in the little pots, best; I wear a coppery (smashbox) one for day-to-day, would look great with your skin/dark hair/eyes, and sometimes black (I prefer the Stila for the black) .

Wow, it sounds like I wear a lot of makeup...I really don't feel like I do!

  • replying to bookmark post but also to tell you about a blush that i love - it's the gel-type by tarte. i love it because it looks like someone pinched my cheeks after I put it on. I also like it because it breaks up the somewhat powdery look after i put on my foundation and pressed powder. it's a really nice glow and smells delish! It's a little pricy ($28ish) but lasts FOREVER!

  • Sarah, the awesome thing about Sephora is that they'll give you demos. I ended up getting a purple Sephora brand shadow palette that I really like (and obviously I have dark hair and dark eyes) after one of the sales people showed me how to use it.

I also have two Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, which are awesome. The color is great and although they look matte they feel very creamy. I think the two colors I have are Dolce Vita and Bettina.

I use Smashbox foundation and love it. I have a couple of Smashbox shadows, too, and like them, although one completely disintegrated into a powder (still usable but kind of a pain, and on the Sephora website I saw a review that said this happened to someone else, too) so I'm not sure I would buy more.

  • I'm a fan on bobbi brown, but they don't sell it at sephora. I like their tinted moisturizer (i don't use foundation, just like it because its light and it evens out a litlte bit) and also their powder.

For eyes - I like stila eyeshadows.

Cheeks - ditto the NARS orgasm

If you go into sephora and tell them you need help, they will walk you through what items will look good on you. They'll ask for you skin type (dry, oily, etc), how much makeup you want to wear, and a price point. There is also no pressure to buy like if you go to a makeup counter in the mall.

  • look at nars shadow duos.  they complement each other and last a long time.  their shadows are amazing.  I love nars blush in deep throat (I am not a fan of the orgasm blush).  I also love their lip sticks and glosses.

if you don't wear foundation on a daily basis, I would skip a primer.  go with a tinter moisturizer, or some bronzer.  I like nars laguna (but definitely check out others, as it is taste specific).  I hear that gerlain bronzer is amazing, but I can't stand products with scent to them.

stila pencils are the best for the eyes (imoSmile)

my only advice is to stay away from glittery shadows as they tend to age.  shimmery shadows are nice, not glittery.

also, if you don't already have them, invest is some good brushes (but I would go to mac for those).

the best part about sephora, is that you can return products even if you tried them.  Have fun!

I agree with Sweetie (as usual..haha). I was thinking you might like Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer if you are not used to foundation. If you want to try a foundation but don't want a super heavy one, I recommend trying the new Nars foundation...Sheer Glow (or Sheer Matte). It gives coverage, but is super light and is supposed to even out your skin tone and nourish your skin (in the long run).

YSL mascara is also great..but expensive. I like High Beam (by Benefit) for a highlighter).

Laura Mercier has great eye kohl pencils in some cool colors that go on really easily, if you like pencils. She has colors like black violet, so they are not as dramatic or as harsh as a true black.

If you need a concealer, Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer is raved about. I have a sample and it is pretty darn good.

And I take stuff back to Sephora ALL the time if I don't like it. It's too expensive not to!
