more broken leg questions..

the cast came off yesterday.  The doc said she'd be walking, walking funny but walking.  She started taking steps yesterday, of course, they were stiff and small, but she was walking without holding onto anything and doing fairly well getting around.

Then something happened...she isn't sure what, and OF COURSE, I wasn't watching her (she was right behind me)...she screamed and cried for a good 5-10 minutes and now she won't put any weight on her leg again.

The break was below her knee..but she is saying it hurts down by her ankle...around her achilles tendon area.

Her ankle is where she had pressure sores from the splint and they are fairly well scabbed over and seem to be healing.  But she has complained about her ankle hurting off and on through this whole mess.

And now Im worried that something is wrong with her ankle that the doctor missed?? 

Or is this normal..just her tendon is stretching back out and its stiff and painful?? I've never had a broken bone.....

Any ideas?  I'm going to call the ortho this morning....

I would venture to guess that maybe her muscles are just not stretched and it pulled when she was walking. I would certainly call the dr.

your dr will know more but in my experience with a broken leg...when the cast came off my ankle was VERY stiff for long time.  I limped around alot and they give me a small brace to wear for the first few weeks and that helped to make me feel secure.  I won't worry too much about before you talk to the Dr.
