Which is the more common spelling? I want to try to ensure that (if we have a girl) her name is spelled correctly MORE than it is spelled incorrectly.
Also, we plan on using the name "Lily" as a nickname so I'm leaning more towards "Liliana" since it doesn't have the double "L". I don't like random "Y"s in names so Lilyana or a variation is not an option. And I don't like the way "Lilli" looks.
I know, I'm picky, right? Would it make sense to name a girl "Lillianna" but spell her nickname without the double "L"?
Am I over thinking this?

I was leaning towards one "L"
I agree...the "anna" looks too frilly...that's a good word, lol
Thanks!
I look at those spellings as two differant pronuciations
Lillianna = Lilly-Anne-a
Liliana= Lily -AAAAHna
To me, you are spelling two totally different names.
Lillianna = Lily-Anna
Liliana = Lily-Ahhna
One or two "Ls" really doesn't make much of a difference IMO. But the difference between one or two "Ns" does make a HUGE difference in how people will percieve the name and pronounce it.
I prefer shorter spellings so my vote goes to Liliana. My girlfriend had a baby about a week ago and this is how she spelled it .
This was on my list for our daughter. She was going to be named after my Nana who was Lillian so I was going to spell it Lilliana.
We ended up not using it but her name does end with "anna" but we pronounce it ah-nna. so different from the pronounciations mentioned above.
