WWYD - driving alone

This weekend, a friend of mine is having an engagement party about 2 hours away (she lives in Hawaii and the wedding will be in HI in March).  So, this will be my only chance to see her in a long time, since I doubt I'll be taking the baby to HI anytime soon!

I'll be 34 weeks then.  DH just found out he has to work that day.  I could wait until he's done, drive up, spend the last 2 hours of the party there, and drive back, in which case we'll get home about 9pm.  Or I could just go alone, and I'd be back in the day light, which I prefer anyway.  Oh, and it's on Sunday.

WWYD?  Since it's only 2 hours away, I was thinking it won't be bad to go it alone?

Re: WWYD - driving alone

  • I wouldn't worry and would make the trip myself.  2 hours isn't too bad and chances are you'll have plenty of time to get home should you feel that something might be going on.

  • What's your health care provider's advice on traveling? Mine was ok with any travel before 32 weeks, from 32-36 weeks advised being cautious and limiting travel, and from 36 weeks on stick closer to home. I did travel for a wedding weekend at 33 weeks around ~ 3 hours away. If you feel comfortable traveling, then go.

  • call your OB for advice

most will let you travel upto 34 weeks

we took our babymoon when I was 33 weeks along and we were in Niagara Falls. I think you should go and enjoy it!

  • My OB never mentioned any travel restrictions, so I guess if this is a true "WWYD" question - I would drive myself and not worry about it.

  • At 33 weeks and only 2 hours away I would drive myself too.
  • Since it is a short distance I would go by myself.

  • It's not far, you should be fine.  Enjoy spending time with your friend.  If your baby hates the car, like mine did, 2 hours will seem like a nightmare distance.  Now, it will be a breeze.
