Nanny Vent

My maternity leave is coming to an end soon (4 weeks to go) and I for the life of me cannot find someone I like and trust. I am going through nannies4hire.com and sittercity.com and am looking for professionals with certifications and background checks. Can you believe the junk I come across? Some ppl. come in for the interview with loaded cheap perfumes (JEEZ!! ), Some ppl. cannot speak a word of english. Some ppl. advertise themselves but then come home with their moms, sisters etc. and promote them for the job. I am sick and tired of this BS.

Can I find a decent nanny who can speak english and actually read the job posting I made? 99% of the nannies I interviewed do not fit the criteria. OMG...scary!! I do not want to quit my job :(

For those who have nannies, how did you find them?

  • I was a nanny (a decent one, too Stick out tongue). The first family sort of poached me from the preschool I was working at. Their kids went to the school and they approached me to nanny for them. The other family was through an agency. The agency fee is high, but there is a 6 week trial period, all the nannies have background checks, CPR trained, etc.
