Should I move UP his bedtime? (2 month old)

Our bedtime routine finally seems to signal to him that it's sleepy time. He goes to sleep usually btw. 7:30-8pm. The problem is that he almost always wakes up an hour later and seems wide awake like he just took a nap. I have tried soothing him back to sleep but this usually results in me soothing for hours (I'm not exaggerating). This has been going on for almost a month. I keep everything in the house dark and calm and it never works until finally anywhere between 11pm-12:30am. I have tried bringing him back to the living room after he wakes and he is content and quiet.

If this helps to know, he usually wakes for the day at 11am and usually takes about a total of 3-4 hours of naps so I'm guessing that he wants more awake time.  I really wanted to try and make this early bed time work (since I've read infants crave an early bedtime, but maybe mine is just not ready for it).

I'm wondering if this is LO telling me that  he wants a later bedtime. WDYT?
