DO you bathe your kids together??

SO at first I was bathing the kids separately.  But now I just find it quicker to do it together...However the way Ive been doing it (LOL) isnt too conventional.  Madison LOVES her baths so I fill the tub and put her in with her toys, while I hold Ash (my 4.5mo old) on my lap...After madison has been playing awhile I undress Ashlee and put her in the tub also, obviously Im holding her the WHOLE time.  While I hold her with one hand (keeping her "Seated") I wash her with the other, then her hair...This is all one handed cause I use my other hand to hold her in one spot...She still can not sit unassisted. All this takes about 3 minutes LOL.  THen I take her out dry her in my lap on a towel (while Im sitting on the toilet), I put her in her jams and then we sit and play with Madison as she finishes up...

So its def a SUPER MOM moment LOL, but I was thinking I need to get one of those bath seat/rings or something, so she can sit for awhile and I'm not killing my back trying to hold her AND wash her simlutaneously.  So you have a bath ring? Like it? Hate it?

Re: DO you bathe your kids together??

  • I bathe them together.  It is much easier and they usually get dirty at the same time (messy dinner, playing outside).  Before DS could sit up DH helped me bathe them.  MIL has a bath chair and she loves it.  I probably need one now if I am going to bathe all 3 together.

  • Oh HECK yes!  No way am I doing 2 different baths.

From very early on we just dropped the infant tub down into the bath tub so the baby was supported.  I'd fill both tubs just enough.

It was a bit crowded for the toddler with the infant tub sitting in there but we'd bathe the baby first and then pull the infant tub out so the toddler could play a bit longer with more space.  It was cute watching him offer tub toys to a baby who had zero interest in "playing" in the tub yet!

Then when he was able to sit better we just put them both in with a good non-slip mat.

My rec is to try dropping your infant tub in there and see if that works before buying a ring.  If Ash isn't sitting up on her own I don't think you're gonna get the relief you're looking for from one of those rings.  They're really large and she's gonna probably just flop over in it.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

  • yes, always.

    I have a 2.5 year old DD & 2 - 9 month old twins.

The boys are always in the tub together in bath seats.  They take up a lot of room. But if I am really stressed out or am at the end of my rope, I will move the seats and then put my DD in.  It is tight - but doable.

I then wash both boys, pull them out 1 at a time and let them crawl around naked, pull the next one out dry him off and let him crawl around naked.

I then take the seats out to give my DD time to play while I dress the boys.  Which I do in the bathroom hallway.  Once the boys are dressed it is DD time.  She screams through the whole hair washing thing and I end up getting soaked.

For the most part it is exhausting to give them baths and I am ashamed to admit it but they are lucky if they get 2 baths a week.  But it is what it is.

Yes I have noticed the seats have real wide leg openings and stuff and it might not really "support" her either...I figured they can tbe too popular because I NEVER see them in stock anywhere and online theres only like 2 kinds.  I had thought about putting her tub in the big tub but same thing, I figured it would be way to big (she has the aquarium tub).  When DH is around to help I usually bathe Ash on the counter in her tub and he bathes madison in the big tub..maybe I should do that instead..

This is what we did.  Their bedtimes have gotten progressively more close so it seemed natural to just start bathing them together.  It saves time and they seem to enjoy playing in there together for a few minutes.  We have a large oval jacuzzi tub in the master bath and that's where I've always bathed the girls.

  • Yes, I did a sling sideways and C sat nest to the baby.
  • Yes I do. My DD is older though so I mainly plop her in, get her soaped up, and then bathe DS while she plays.  Then get him out, then her.

  • I do now, but didn't start until DS#2 was able to sit unassisted.

  • I started using a bath seat for #2 around 4 mos old.  It helped so much and I still bathe them together now at 2 and 4 (although I think that will be coming to an end soon, #1 is starting to ask for "privacy.")

Which seat did you use? Was #2 able to sit in it without sliding down??

  • Once I recover from my c-section, I will use our sling seat with the newborn and bathe them both together

We have one very similar to this one: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3332084

  • At that age, we did not.  We would do younger DD in the infant tub on the counter while older DD was in the big bath.  DH and I would each do one.  Once my younger was old enough to sit well, we would have them in the tub together.  NOw adays, we put younger DD in the tub first and she plays and gets washed.  Older DD loves to help with this.  She typically gets into the tub towards the end to play and then we take younger DD out and turn on the shower for my older DD.  She LOVES to use the shower so we wash her that way which is so much easier.  I can't wait until my younger DD wants to shower too.  So much easier on the back.

  • Yes, we used a bath seat the moment #2 could sit in it.  Now she can sit on her own and we still bath them together.  We may even try to fit all three once he is old enough but we'll see.  :)
  • the bath chairs definitely serve their purpose- I have one and will definitely use it on baby 2 when dd is a little older
  • I started to bathe them separately this week, it was getting to be too stressful.  They both want to touch everything and I'm afraid they are going to fall.
  • Yes!  I use a euro bath.  See siggy picture =D
  • *Sort of* together. ?I run the water and get in the tub and bathe #2, then I hand him off to his dad and #1 gets in with me. ?I add more water, we wash and play, then I hand him off to his dad. ?I refill with hot clean water and turn on the jets and luxuriate while daddy puts them both to bed. ?: )
