Ready for solids?

DS is constatly trying to get at my food.  He wakes up when we eat, has excellent head control, can sit with little to no assistance for a couple minutes at a time, eats 5 7.5 oz bottles a day every 2.5 hours.  Is he ready?  Our GP doesn't want us to go in unless he's sick...and well, he's not.  I wanted to wait until after we see the IL's, but that's 3 weeks away.  What do you think?

  • Try it and see how it works.

  • He probably is ready. My DS started and is 3 months old. His Dr. said it was ok for him.. Maybe you can call and ask them instead of bringing him in?
  • We just started rice cereal this weekend and DS seems to like it a little bit...he gets it everywhere, sometimes in his mouth, but most of the time on his face. :)

  • I would say to just call, but our Ped said around 4 months we can start if we want. I am not sure if we will, but my SIL did and my nephew loves his food!
  • my  DS was showing signs early on as well. My cousin has a DD that is 3 weeks older than DS and she is still just bf and isn't showing signs at all.  I know the big thing is to wait, but like anything children are all on their schedule. Call your pedi, but if you feel like trying it start off slow...my DS is still mostly eating cereal...we have used one veggie and he didn't care for it, so we just waited for this week...if he likes it he will have some more..little ones let you know what they like.
