Kitten(s) and a baby

We got a kitten last Tuesday.  The idea was to get two to prevent lonliness etc.  We only caught one.  She is insane..well ok, she acts like a kitten.  We bought her toys to help burn off the energy, and it has helped, but I can't help but question if we should get another one to help her out, or would it be double the trouble?  Yay or nay?[Poll]

Re: Kitten(s) and a baby

  • That is a TOUGH one......I said Nay only because our 3 cats are always causing trouble in the house....but now that I think about it, I would feel bad if they didn't have each  other to play with. Cats do awesome on their own but it wouldn't hurt to have a pal to hang out with. Even if my 3 cats run through the house at night knocking everything down and when I wake up in the morning it looks like a storm came through! hahahhaha They are great entertainment also! haha

  • DS loves the kitten!  He's tried to grab at her on many occasions...plus, she helps him ejoy tummy time..haha
  • I say nay!  We have a cat who is plenty of trouble on her own.  Don't get me wrong, she is our first baby (she's about 6yrs old) and we love her silly, but I can't imagine having two cats.  We can give her our somewhat undivided attention and she feels special even after the arrival of LO.  Kittens are crazy and will eventually mellow as they get older.
  • You are "catching" kittens? If so I say yay to save another cat's life.

DO NOT let kitten come into contact with your baby until it has had its shots and has been wormed. You do not want your baby gettin' some nasty bacterial issue.

lol..from my parent's place.  They had a kitten gender malfunction...instead of two of one gender, they got one of each...and almost 20 cats now (Duggars?)  I'll look into the shots etc.

  • Yay. One cat or two, they will get make messes and get into trouble, but two will let them play with each other to let out some energy, instead of bugging you so much. I very carefully planned having 2 of each before having a kid for that reason. And it's worked great. Neither of the first ones (white dog, black cat) are as clingy as they were before they had a friend. And, IMO, one, two, even 5 (yea, I've had 5 cats with fosters before) Adding more is easy and barely noticible ;)
