we have had Direct TV for about 4 years now. DH likes that he can get the baseball package. I think we pay about $80 a month which includes an HD receiver, an HD DVR receiver and a regular receiver. We have gotten certificates for free movies, free movie channels for a couple months, and a free portable DVD player
We've had it for almost 5 yrs and have been totally happy. We pay $100/month for one dish (not HD), HBO, Starz and Encore (a total of like 20 channels), plus it has all the XM satellite radio stations, and DVR.
They've always been really good about customer service. In fact, we called to cancel a pay channel and they gave it to use half-price for 6 mos. And when we moved, they gave us free DVR for a year for no apparent reason.
We had Cox cable and the picture quality is better - no pixelation. I like DirecTV's menu better than Cox's, too. You can hide the channels that you don't want to see/never watch.
Warning
No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
The only complaint from us would be that you can lose your signal when it storms sometimes. It doesn't last long, though. We pay around $90 now (it was around $60 for the first 6 months). We have it in two rooms with DVR and HBO. We got rid of cable because they kept jacking up the prices plus we get a lot more channels now.
