Car seat question.

Why do people always mention the weigh limit on a car seat, instead of the height limit.  There might be a few kids who outgrow the weight before the height, but don't most outgrow the height before the weight?  My kids are taller than they are heavy, so maybe it is jut my experience?

Re: Car seat question.

  • I'm the same way. ?My kids have outgrown ALL their seats by height.

  • Seats are always outgrown by height before weight except in obese children. I usually try to mention that. A lot of people hear the weight, and never read a manual, so assume their child is safe until that weight, even if they have outgrown it by height a long time ago.
  • Mostly because it's harder to find the height limit of the seat. Height limit really depends on torso height, so it's hard to find a hard and fast limit. I've been comparing top harness slots lately, and they're all between 17.5-18" on all higher weight harnessed seats.

except for the regent, which is 20. Of course, hardly any child needs that, unless they're giant like Ethan!
