Interview @ 31 weeks

I have an interview @ 31 weeks and I am so nervous!  I feel silly going in asking to be hired for a job when I'm so far along.  I plan on taking 12 weeks off, so I find it very unlikely that they will hire me anyway.  Wish I would just save myself the embarrassment and not go!  Does anyone have any advice or words of encouragement?

I say go for it! I was going to trade jobs and that would of been around my 30th week! Good luck, let us know how it goes!

Good luck!  I dunno how it will go with wanting 12 weeks off but I guess it all depends on the company.

Go in, get through the interview, and when they ask if you have any questions, say something like "I want to let you know that I am pregnant. I am sure you can tell! I feel it is important to be honest and up front about this because as an employer, I would be upset to hire someone only to find out later. Because I am pregnant, I wanted to ask you how maternity leave would be handled, should you offer me a position. I would like to take 8-12 weeks off after the baby, and plan to work up until the day I deliver. I know it is hard to hire someone knowing they will be taking time off, but I give you my word that I will do everything I can prior to leaving - should I get the job - to make it as easy on everyone as I can."

If they won't hire you because you are PG it won't matter if you say something or not. You may get more respect for being honest.

That said - remember you are NOT protected under FMLA for ANY leave time - you must be with a company for 12 consecutive months working more than 1250 hours in that time. Your state may have different laws protecting pregnant women.

Go to the interview.  It's possible the company might not need someone right away.  They might actually need the 2-3 months to get your position ready.  You never know!

Be honest about you plans, discuss it right away so that you can get past the awkwardness of it and then just do you best. I'm guessing, they will be more likely to hire you with a start date after mat leave, rather than before, but you never know.?
