carseat question

DH and DD had a car wreck yesterday.Everyone is fine, DD got checked out at Children's ER and then DH got checked out at ER also. What do we do about the carseat. Does it need to be replaced? I have always heard that once in a wrec to replace it, we have a spare and that is what we are using right now. Any thoughts? I am gonna get online with manufactur and see what they say.

Re: carseat question

  • Glad everyone is okay!

Yes, it will need to be replaced. Submit it to your insurance when you file the claim.

  • Call your insurance company... a friend of mine was in a minor crash, and her insurance company sent out a check for a new carseat that same afternoon, before everything was settled. She just called and said she'd been in an accident... didn't have to send the seat in or anything.

  • When you dispose of the old one, make sure to cut the straps so that no one takes it out of the garbage and uses it. :) I'm glad everyone is ok!
  • So glad everyone is ok...I agree with PP's call insurance, they should replace it without any issues.

  • We just had DD's carseat checked at the fire station over the weekend, and they said after a crash it needs to be replaced.  They called it a "one time use" product.
  • Absolutely agree with PP's.  We had an accident and our insurance took care of the car seat immediately.  Call your insurance, tell them you had a car seat involved in the accident and that you need to replace it.  They don't argue about carseats.
