Bloody nose in an infant?

Max woke up at like 4:30am and while I was trying to suck his nose of the boogers that were stuffing him up, I noticed it came out blood.  Talk about a little freaked in the middle of the night.  I don't think I did it with the bulb sucker thing, but I suppose anything is possible.  Any other thoughts as to wtf this was, or has anyone else had a baby w/a bloody nose?

  • Do you feel like the air in your house is really dry?  That is my first thought.

  • That happened to us once and the pedi told me I probably just was too aggressive with the bulb thingie. She didn't seem worried.

I guess it depends how much blood. If you're really worried, you should call your pedi.

  • I would think it's the air too, depending on where you live.  my 2 yo had a full-on bloody nose the other day for no reason. The Ped said the same thing.  If it happens again, I'd call the doc.  Good luck!
