How to check a preschool's license?

Who do you call to check licensing information for preschools? We've chosen one for Caleb, but want to double-check before enrolling him on Tuesday.

Re: How to check a preschool's license?

  • I am a preschool teacher in the Sacramento area.  If you look up "Community Care Licensing" or google "childcare licensing agency" for your area you should be able to get a phone number.  You'll need to obtain the preschool/daycare's facility number, which they will give you if you call.  Then you call the licensing office, give them the name and facility number of the center, and they should be able to give you all the info you need.

Also, in CA, preschools/daycares are required to give you any information on licensing visits/violations within the lat year.  All you have to do is ask for copies of their paperwork.

    HTH!  Good Luck!
