Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Have you seen Dunstan Baby Language?

My dad brought me this dvd about recognising baby's cries and what they mean and I thought it was really helpful.  It teaches you to recognise the different cries for hungry, needs to burp, and tired.  I was skeptical at first that it would be worth the time to watch it, but let me tell you it's so weird to hear him cry and actually know what it means!  I highly recomend it.

  • Yes we saw it in our Bradley class, but I can't remember what sounds mean what. :( Can you give me a quick refresher of the sound and need?

  • Alrighty.  It's three sounds.  The "I'm hungry" sound is Neh.  It's when you hear an "N" at the beginning of the cry.  The "I need to burp" sound is Eh.  The "I'm tired" sound is Owh.  She says with this one their mouth will be in an oval shape.  The only one I haven't personally witnessed yet is the Owh, and I think that's probably just because my baby still sleeps a lot of the day.  :)  There are a few clips of it on Youtube I think.
  • Thanks, that all rings a bell!
