And btw, I just said a not-nice word (stupid)...DS would be proud to point that out, lol.
When DH and I built our home, we thought, "Lighter carpet, tannish couch."
Dumb. Dumb. Dumb! ![]()
Why did we think that was a good idea?????? We planned to have more kids and we were crazy to think the next ones would be as neat as DD#1 was. To top it off, DH was a diesel technician at the time. Now he works with trucks all day and still gets pretty dirty.
In our defense, the idiots that sold us our carpet LIED. Stain resistant my a**. After many, many, many stain removing products and using our carpet shampooer, I tried out that new Resolve deep clean "powder" and that helped the carpet a bit. I tried it on the couch, no such luck.
We plan on replacing the carpet sometime soon (DH wants wood floors). The couch, who knows. I think we'll have to go the professional route
Then DH will scotch guard it from end to end and underneath too, because with this one he said, "Oh, we'll just do it at home" when they offered to do it at the store. Yeah, that happened. ![]()
Re: Ugh. Stupidest parenting mistake ever.
We had carpet in the living area of our brand new townhouse for less than a year before we ripped it up and put down hardwood. With our pets and baby, the carpet got so nasty and I felt like it just trapped dirt. Wood floors are so much easier to keep clean IMO. I'm dying to get a new sofa- it will definitely be one with removable covers, probably in white so I can wash and bleach them.
Thanks for the tip about the Resolve powder, I'll have to try it out.
So far our white bedroom carpet has been safe from DD, but my sister's Yorkie has been a different story. Even Stanley Steamer couldn't get out the yellow stain he left for us. Maybe Resolve will work.
We knew we wanted kids when we picked the carpet, but I loved the way it looked with the dark red walls and at the time aesthetics seemed more important that practicality. Oh well.
