I'm wanting to go out looking at different colors of wool today but where can I find it in store? Michaels? JoAnn's? Are there any national chains that carry it?
Michaels and Joann's have it. It just depends on how big they are for selection. And a local yarn store if you have one will have pretty stuff as well.
I can't afford my local store though so I don't go too often because I want to buy.
ETA: If you don't find enough colors you can get the natural colored wool and dye it yourself. I have done that and plan on doing that for all the wool I just bought for soakers.
I just recently realized that the yarn I made DD's first soaker out of (the bright orange Elann Peruvian Highland wool) is only $2.38 a skein online!! and it comes in mad good colors. That means that although I got the yarn in a trade, the soaker would still have cost less than $5!! So now I want to order A LOT more. It's elann.com.
That's WAY cheaper than Joann's or Michael's, even with their typical 40% coupon.

Re: Where do you find your wool yarn in store
i've found it at Michael's and Joann's. I like Patton's and I've found that mainly at Michael's.
