solids....seriously. he gets more finger foods because he hates purees even more (anything that i have to feed him with a spoon he gets mad!)...but he will only take one or two bites and then whine that he's done....
what can i do to get him to eat more?????

Re: ds HATES eating
We stopped purees all together at about that point- 9ish months. DS was a pretty good chewer so we just went to finger foods- he was really into the whole feeding himself thing
Keep it interesting with flavours... DS has always loved spicy/sour foods and if it's something "boring" like apples/pears he's not interested- but he was all over oranges and anything flavoured with lemon/lime juice.
I wouldn't worry too too much- just keep offering him solid foods, and he'll eat them when he's ready. DS went through a few phases where he didn't eat a ton of solid food and now he's a pro
With the exception of purees that came in a pouch so Bruce could feed himself we were pretty much off of them entirely at that age. The only puree type foods he ate were yogurt and applesauce whenever they finally got introduced, not remembering but I think I did yogurt around 9 or 10 months.
I would just offer whole foods. We had a lot of luck that way. mini bagels or just a chunk of a regular one with cream cheese was a big hit, the dark meat from a roast chicken tends to be so soft and moist it just slips down their throats, any sort of puff type food was good, big hunks of fruit that he could gnaw on... If you google baby led weaning you'll find a lot of great information about how to prepare foods for kids your son's age.
but we already don't do purees because he doesn't like them. we do finger foods and he wont eat but a couple bites of those...
And I have given him yogurt and he gets a rash every time we do so no more yogurt (oddly enough he doesn't get it with yogurt melts)
I haven't tried bagel with cream cheese though, that might be a hit, I will have to try that next, thanks!
I think I will try this too because we gave him some of our food that had garlic on it and he LOVED it
Ah, I thought you were still trying purees and that was what he would only take a couple of bites of... hmm...
I second the idea to just go with your food. We discovered pretty early on that Bruce likes big flavors - nothing mild or bland for this kid! He likes curry, chili, beef guinness stew, root vegetable soups, lemon/parmesean risotto (what we had tonight)...
