Prepping prefold...wash or boil?

I have unbleached prefolds, and I understand that they need to be washed about 5-8 times.  Other than throwing them in the wash, I'm thinking of boiling them.  If I do boil them, do I put in detergent in the pot, and how much?  Also, how many times would I need to boil the prefolds?

Boil, boil, boil!

Bring your pot to a rolling boil and boil how every many prefolds fit in your pot for 10 minutes. Put them in the was and then add the detergent. No need to add it to the pot.  I just washed them on a super long HOT cycle in my washer and then dryed them for about 60 minutes  maybe a bit longer depending on how many you washed  and then you're done! Saves so much water and energy! I wouldn't do it another way.

So does boiling take away the need to wash them so many times in prep?   Or do you still wash 5 times or more?
