May be TMI, but I have a question related to IBS...

Do any of you have IBS? Could you tell me your symptoms?

I could identify with about 90% of what I found symptom-wise on the yahoo health page... but I'm also worried that I have thyroid issues. (I've been losing hair since I had this IUD in... not sure if that could be thyroid... and irregular, LONG periods, plus weight gain) DH told me that apparently thyroid issues can mimic IBS.

It just seems like my symptoms are WAY worse when I'm having AF. So bad, that I've been dodging to the bathroom frantically 4-5 times a day (sorry, I told ya TMI).

If you don't want to share anything here, could you PM me? Symptoms? What helps you? Anything I need to know?

Thanks!

  • I have IBS and it definetly "flares up" during my time of month, at least for the first few days. I actually never know if it's my period or stomach cramps because so often they come hand in hand. The rest of the time, my triggers are stress and certain foods. My symptoms pretty much go from 0-60 and I have cramping and then start sweating, sometimes I throw up, most other times I just have almost uncontrollable, well, you know. Honestly, nothing helps once it has started to I try to make note of my trigger foods and just not eat them anymore. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat.

  • Don't know if this is the case for you but before I had any dc's I was really sick with IBS.  After I had my first ds, I was deathly ill with what I thought was my IBS flaring up...well it turned out that it was my gallbladder! After I had the surgery, no more IBS symptoms!  Just something to think about. Oh and btw, they didn't see my gall stones on ultrasound, they had to do a HIDA scan which is a cat scan when they inject a protein into your veins and watch how your gallbladder breaks in down and can see how it is functioning or not.  Just giving you the heads up. GL!

  • I was told I had IBS but it was actually celiac disease.  I wouldn't self diagnose this one.
