C Section moms

Are you numb for about 1-2 inhces above your incision site?  It is the weirdest feeling.  I asked my doc about it and she said that is normal because she had to cut through nerves... just wondering how common this actually is.  Thanks!

  • Yep, a numb and tingly sensation when I touch there. I've started to get the occasional sharp, electric shooting pains in the area too, which I believe are the nerve endings healing.

  • I am. The feeling does come back eventually, I just don't remember how long it took. I had surgery November 2007 to remove a cyst and then 10 days later to remove a hemotoma (sp?) and I remember being numb then as well. It seems like it is getting better already from c-section, though.
  • I was but not anymore.
  • yup. shooting pains too.
  • mine's below my incision site.  normal sensation is actually coming back now.  the doc said it would take about 3 mos or more.
  • Yes.  My doc said it may not ever come back.  That I would know within 6 months.  If it started coming back (it has in my case) then it probably would, if not then it probably wouldn't.  Very weird sensation.
