Babies: 0 - 3 Months

For those that pump in the car....

Do you use the battery pack, or did you buy the adapter for the cigarette lighter?

If you use  batteries, how long do they last? Seems to me that the batteries would run out quickly!! I'm about to go buy the adapter, but just wanted to check with you ladies about the batteries! Thanks!

Re: For those that pump in the car....

  • I think it depends on your pump - but I remmeber reading in the manual that the batteries don't last all that long.

If you're going on a trip or something I'd buy the adapter - but if it's just a one-time thing or here or there, then maybe use the batteries!

  • I borrowed my sis-n-law's battery pack for our last trip.  Used it twice, and the batteries still had juice.  It doesn't have nearly as much power as being plugged in.  In fact, I'm thinking I'll go with the car adapter for myself!  Let me know what you end up doing and how it works.  I'm in the same dilemma!
  • I used batteries.  In fact, I've gotten lazy at home and just continued to use the batteries.  It's been over a week, but I only pump once a day (usually nurse), and on that car trip I pumped three times.

  • the adapter... the batteries don't last long enough
  • I have rechargable batteries.  It goes at least a week and a half pumping 3 times a day...
  • I have the medela freestyle so I don't have to worry about plugging in or batteries. I just recharge the pump overnight every 3 days and am good to go.

Will baby #3 be another girl?

  • I have both the adapter and the battery pack and I say go for the adapter for use in the car, but the batteries have come in handy for me. I've had to pump in an airport bathroom between flights and there is no place to plug in...
  • I bought the adapter, but I pumped in the car a lot so it was worth it.  And I'm not sure if it was just me, but I found that the suction was a ton stronger when I used the car adapter as opposed to plugging it in at home.
