C-Section Mamas: Irritation around incision area

Just a quick question.  I am almost 3 wks PP and my incision area is itching like crazy so after looking it appears its not infected but the area around the incision is irritated.  I do unfortunatly have that little fold over so im thinking it may be from rubbing on the skin or sweating.

I need to put something on it but not sure what I can use, did anyone have this and if so what did you do for it?

TIA

  • I had it, but I didn't dare put anything on it, so I guess I'm no help. Embarrassed It ended up going away on its own.

  • omg! yes...it itched like crazy.  make sure you keep it dry after you shower, i use my hair dryer to make sure it was dry.  i had the sticky strips, they never peeled off, at my 5 week check up my dr. took my sticky strips off, he told me to clean with cotton ball and perioxide....

try a soft bristle toothbrush if you just cant take it anymore....rub gently

  • Yep, so itchy. It went away on its own!

  • I still have itching.  My strips never came off either, I went to the dr and found out I had an infection.  I used neosporin on mine to help it heal.

  • I had the exact same thing. My dr. suggested aloe. It worked wonders! I just used the same stuff we have for sunburn.
  • I had a fold over too since I am plus size..

I would dab it dry whenever I could , really bothered me when it was hot..

Mine never itched but did hurt ...

Someone suggested using a pad against to help with the moisture.

  • I had a fold-over too....I used a pantyliner to keep it from getting too moist or to keep pants from rubbing when I went out, used a hair dryer on cool setting to dry it (the heat made me sweat more) and I wore maternity underwear that came above the incision...even now it still itches sometimes...
