2 wedding related ?s

1 - did your invites match your colors/theme? do you think people will even remember what the invites looked like if they dont 'match'?

2 - who was invited to your rehearsal dinner? just bridal party or bridal party with guests?

  • If it makes you feel any better, my cousin recently got married and I don't remember what color her invites were at all.

  • 1 - the font color on our invites matched the color my MOH was wearing ( i had a rainbow wedding) and the color sash I wore.

2 - We invited those with guest if they were married or dating someone.

  • Our invites matched our theme....

We had the bridal party and guests, but we had a really small bridal party.

  • 1. nope - didn't match but they were cute.  i honestly don't think people even noticed.  although... i did recently have an old friend from high school get married and hers did match and came complete with a peacock feather and you better believe i noticed.  they were stunning.  and stunning priced i'm sure too.  haha

    2. bridal party and a guest

  • 1. Ours matched our colors

    2. We bridal party with guest, family (aunts, uncles, cousins, grandmothers), singers

  • 1 - mine matched, but my guess is people will have no idea. The only time I looked at details like that for other people's weddings was when I was getting ideas for mine. Get what you like for the invitation even if it doesn't technically match is my advice.

2 - we only had a Maid of Honor and Best Man and they brought their SO. We also had a few people in from out of town that are very good friends and we invited them also and a few family friends (since our bridal party was so small).

  • 1. They matched. I doubt people remembered that they did though.

    2. Bridal party and guests. I had a small wedding, but have been in several larger ones and they were done this way too.

  • 1- matched our "theme"- beachy, but were all white instead of our colors.

2- We had an OOT wedding so a lot of the dates would have been stuck alone in hotel rooms if we did just bridal party, so we did everyone. We also invited aunts & uncles because we wanted to spend some more time with them. (All of our family lives far from us). But we just ordered pizza and hung out at the beach house we rented- going OUT w/ all those people would have been SOOO expensive.

    I'm rambling... sorry.

  • Our invites matched but were not the "exact color". There are too many shades of blue that I could never get the exact color.

For rehersal dinners I have always been allowed to bring a date in the weddings that I have been in and I allowed it in mine as well. Some people even invite out of town guests to the rehearsal dinner.

  • 1. our colors were black and white, and we kept the invites simple and black and white as well. I was told by someone not to spend a lot of $$ on the invites, that people always throw them away and forget about them quickly.  I actually barely remember mine, and I can't think of a single wedding I've been to that I remember the invites.

    2. We had bridal party with their SO if applicable and close family. (Included family because lots of DH's family was from out of state.) We also had it at a local Mexican restaurant where DH and I had our first date, so it was pretty inexpensive. (provided never ending pitchers of margaritas and the meal, any other drinks they ordered themselves.)

    3. YGPM! :)

  • Mine did but it was mostly because we were married on St. Patrick's Day and I am Irish.  We had a Celtic themed invitation.  If we weren't getting married on St. Pat's Day I wouldn't have cared as much about the theme of the invite.

We got married out of town.  At the rehearsel we had the bridal party, my parents and grandparents, my aunt and uncle (they were the parents of my reader and junior bridemaid) and most of Chase's family that came in town for the wedding.  SInce his parents were paying for it, we figured they could invite whoever they wanted to.

  • 1. Yes, mine matched.  I don't thiink anyone will remember but I do think it's a nice preview of what's to come.

    2.  Bridal party and their guests, and grandparents

  • 1 - did your invites match your colors/theme?  - Yes and I do not think that people will remember what your invites looked like.

2 - who was invited to your rehearsal dinner? Bridal party and their SO's.  We also close family like MIL, etc.  We also invited the priest.

  • Yes, the invites matched the theme, and I think the invites should at least go with the general theme, as that kind of gives the guests a way to measure how "fancy" or "laid-back" the wedding will be.  I don't think anyone will actually remember whether they "match" , but they should at least coordinate.

We invited the wedding party and their guests, and also obviously, the parents of the children.

  • yes the ink was the same color as my bridesmaids dresses (wine) i dont think people will remember if its not though.

we had a lot of people come from ireland for our wedding so we had a big bbq and invited everyone.  they mostly arrived that week and it was a great way to catch up instead of at the wedding.  but i think it is customary to invite parents, inlaws, bridal party and spouses and the church readers.

BTW love the eagles jerseys in your siggy - im a huge fan too :)

  • My invites were silver and white.  My wedding also had silver in it but am not sure that it matters (or anyone notices or remembers).  Also we had wedding party and anyone who did a reading at the r dinner.  And their guests too.
  • 1.  Yes, our invites matched our colors. But, no, I don't think people will remember/care.

    2. We invited the bridal party plur their significant other and kids (if they had them). Also close family if they were already in town (uncles, aunts, cousins).

  • 1. yes, but no

    2.  def guests should be invited too.

  • 1. no i just chose one i liked.

    2. g-parents, w-party w/married or engaged other and out of town guests.

  • Our invites were beachy and matched our DW theme. BUT I never ever notice, pay attention or care to other people's invites and whether or not they match a theme when i show up to the wedding. The only one I remember is a friend who had a movie theme (wedding at a theatre) and the invites were like tickets to a premiere. If the invites are *somewhat* or very traditional, I barely remember them.

  • Invites had the same feel (beach theme) as the wedding, and we invited the wedding party, and speakers, plus immediate family as well as the grandparents.

  • 1. Our colours were yellow and white, and the invitations were white. . .I wouldn't say they matched, though. To answer your question, I do notice when the invitations go with the theme, but I don't notice when they don't, if that makes any sense.

    2. We invited the bridal party and if they had an out of town guest, that person was invited too.

  • They matched theme more than colors. I personally consider the invitation when I am picking out what to wear to a wedding, but I do not think people pay attention about matching

It was OOT, so we invited bridal party and their SOs and also some close family members that drove in the night before.

  • Invites matched overall theme- black/cream. My sister designed them and drew a picture of the location that was turned into a letterpress invite. It was like a little piece of art. Loved them. We didnt really have a typical theme though. It was eclectic/vintage/homey. Chairs didn't match, plates didn't match. no special chair covers, etc.

invited bridal party + guests + special family members to rehearsal dinner.

  • my invites were cream with brown print...my rsvps were green with a pink envelope...my wedd colors were brown, pink, green and a bit of yellow...i doubt anyone cared, but me, that they all matched...lol..

  • 1- we didn't really have a theme but our invites went along with our colors (black and red).  I highly doubt anyone even remembers what our invites look like.  Like most pp have said, most people eventually chunk them in the trash.

2- bridal party along with others taking part in the ceremony plus guest as well as OOT family.

  • Yes they did. 15 bucks at Target. Awesome except that I had to make them myself. People will not even remember them. Thank God b/c I think some of them looked horrible!

Bridal party brought husbands and wives, but the 2 single gals didn't bring a random date. They're not dating anyone serious!

  • Mine were just white with red lettering (colors were apple red, buff, and green).  I don't think anyone remembered that the lettering was red.  The bridal party and their spouses/significant others and children were invited, as well as the minister and musician and their families.
    I HAVE CHILDREN.
  • 1.  Ours matched.

    2.  We got married in Vegas at the Red Rock Resort and Spa

(www.redrocklasvegas.com).  Cool venue.  We had about 50 people in town as it was a destination wedding.  The wedding was on Saturday and on Friday evening we did the actual rehersal.  Red Rock had a really cool bowling alley so we took everyone bowling.  Aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, friends, and grandparents.  It was an awesome time!!

  • 1. My invites matched the colors because I hand made them all. I don't think it really matters if they match.

    2. We went to dinner straight after rehearsal so, it was just the wedding party.

  • 1.  Nope.  We got invites at Michaels and printed them ourselves.

    2.  Bridal party with guests.

  • 1- no, my invites were just cream with gold script, very classic but not directly related to any other theme or concept from the wedding

2- bridal party and spouse (if applicable) and anyone else who participated in the wedding ceremony (readers, priest etc)
