Anyone have apx 4 yrs difference between kids?

DS will be 3 next month and DH and I are just starting to think about #2.  I worry a bit about having such a big age gap although I'm sure it will be helpful in ways too....  DS more self sufficient and able to help, less jealousy etc..  Anyway, I'd love to hear experience, thoughts, advice on having this much of an age gap between kiddos.

  • I will - but with one in between!  Stick out tongue

Sorry, I am not much help.

  • My brother and I are 4 years apart. It was GREAT growing up. We never/rarely fought and we still get a long great. I don't know if that's because of the age gap (he had his life, I had mine) or if it was just the way we were raised, but it worked for us.

  • We will.  We plan on starting TTC next month, and DS turned 4 back in August.  So actually, we are looking at at least a 5 year age difference.

  • This is our plan as well.  I would love to have another fall baby and am hopeful a four year age difference works out well.

Fingers crossed for both of us :)

  • There will be 3 1/2 years between Preston and the new baby, but my brother and I are 7 years apart and we were not close (growing up or now). The age gap is so much that he is in a whole different part of his life right now.

Don't get me wrong, we aren't strangers and we help eachother out when we need etc., but we don't hang out together or anything like that.

  • Nathan and Kaitlyn are 4.5 years apart.  It is great now, there is a time period that it is harder, he wanted to do things but we had to wait for the baby to wake up and so forth.  Now that they are older it is great!

  • I should add I think in regards to sibling relationships as adults the actual age difference is irrelevant.

I am the baby in a big family and I am closest with my siblings who are 14 and 17 years older than me.  My oldest sister and I are best friends.  You just never know.

  • My brother and I are 4 years apart, almost to the day.  My mom says it was great, and he and I are really close and always were as kids.
  • Hikerbaby 2.0 is due a month after DD turns 4.  We planned the spacing this way and I think it's going to be really positive.  She's very independent right now and is actually asking for a "little sister."  She has lots of friends who have had siblings recently so I think she's really getting into the concept.

She will be a big helper.

There is a 5 year gap between my brother and I and we are very close.

  • We will have at least 4 yrs age gap. DD is 3yr3mo now. We are just starting to TTC again after a break due to my career. Unless I get pg next week, we'll have over a 4 year age gap. This wasn't the original plan, but life doesn't always go according to plan. DH and his brother are 5 yrs apart and have always had a great relationship. I think there are advantages and disadvantages to any age gap.
