XP: Just bought a new crock pot. What to make for dinner?

I feel like a new woman with new hope for this thing!!!! My old one ruined every meal I tried. Everyone convinced me to buy a new one, that my 10 year old one was no good. So, I have hope!

Unfortunately, it's the same darn brand as my P.O.S. one (Rival), but hopefully *this* one will turn me out some nice and tasty dishes. It has auto shut-off, and a 4 hr button and an 8 hr button. Seems nicer, and is stainless steel from Costco.

So, here's what I have on-hand... anyone want to suggest a recipe for dinner? I have around 4-5 hours until dinnertime...

fresh Beef round roast / frozen chicken thighs / sockeye salmon

all sorts of seasonings

onions

carrots

parsnips

fingerling potatoes

fresh sauerkraut

Since I have fresh sauerkraut, I'm honestly thinking of trying a German dish called rouladen. I have a roast and a German seasoning packet for rouladen. The only thing is that the beef should be rolled, hence the name rouladen, but I'll just try a large roast. Maybe I'll add some potatoes and carrots. Not sure.

Taking suggestions!!! Stick out tongue

  • I say go for the sauerkraut dish.

I'd make a stew with what you described, but I'm not a fan of sauerkraut.

I also like to do big batches of pasta sauce and chili and it's a good place to keep cider warm at parties :-)
