Huge Blow outs with every poo

So, my LO is a about 4 1/2 months and is EBF.  About three weeks ago he started only going poo every other day and the day he did poo he would go 2-3 times.  Then about a week ago he started only going once every other day and each time he goes it goes everywhere.  Out the back, out the leg holes, etc  It is a huge mess.  He is about 15 pounds and in size 2 swaddlers so I don't think he needs to go up a size yet but I could be wrong.  Any advice from someone that has been there would be helpful.  I am afraid to leave the house on the day I know the poo is coming!

maybe a bigger diaper,

when you put the diaper on, slide your fingers on the inside of his legs to make sure the elastic part is going to catch everything... I have to do that with DD.

I'd try a different brand. DD was in swaddlers until we reached the size 2's. They fit, but she was leaking out of them consistently. We now use Costco brand, which are pretty much the same as Huggies. We've also been using the Pampers Baby Dry (overnight protection) size 2's at night with no problem (she sttn).

check the ruffles around the legs are out and not tucked into the elastic of the legs, as that helps reduce some leaks from the legs.

are you getting the diaper tight enough?  If it is too loose it can leak out.  

Try a different brand diaper.  Sometimes they just need a different fit that a different brand provides.  I have sworn by different diapers at different points in DD's 2 years.
