Does anyone know if ear infections are contagious?

Has your LO been around another child/adult whose had an ear infection? Is it contagious?

    No, the bacteria inside the ear causing the infection are not contagious. The cold virus that can lead to an ear infection is contagious. Oftentimes, if the ear infection occurs a week after the cold begins, the child is no longer contagious.

    No. not contagious.

    But- at lot of kids I know have gotten them along with a cold or virus of some sort. Those would be contagious.

    They are not contagious.

    Does your LO have one?  I"ve heard if LO eats on his side he/she is prone to getting a ear infection because ears, nose and throught are connected, the milk can get into the ear and cause an infection...  or so I've been told.

    (No spell check on work computer...  sorry.)

    No, but my older sister has one and has started worrying me that he could catch it. I can't tell if he is eating on one side or another.
