No, the bacteria inside the ear causing the infection are not contagious. The
cold virus that can lead to an ear infection is contagious. Oftentimes, if the
ear infection occurs a week after the cold begins, the child is no longer
contagious.
Does your LO have one? I"ve heard if LO eats on his side he/she is prone to getting a ear infection because ears, nose and throught are connected, the milk can get into the ear and cause an infection... or so I've been told.
