Am I crazy?

I'm leaving Thursday evening to go to a family wedding in Ohio...Driving 5 hours Thursday night...8 hours Friday.  Family party Friday night.  Saturday wedding and reception....leaving after hte reception to drive 2-3 hours back home (like from 11:00-1:00) then driving the last 10 hours on Sunday...

With the girls.

And me.

Am I crazy?  To do all this driving for a wedding?  Oh, and my 96 year old grandma who's health is failing will be there.....

Re: Am I crazy?

  • It will be a total PITA, but worth it. Especially if it is the last time you get to spend with Grandma.
  • That's pretty intense, but the girls are older, so it' not like having screaming toddlers. If it were me though, I might try to squeeze in taking Monday off too just so it wouldn't be so intense. At least it would give yourself a chance to get some sleep on Saturday night before starting the drive home.

This.  You'll be happy you did it.

  • I would do it without thinking twice.  I think the ride home will probably get a little long for all of you, but nothing you can't handle.  Have fun!

  • Yes you're crazy!  We drove 12 hrs total to a wedding with my 3.5 yr olds and DH.  We drove 8 hr overnight and 4 hrs the next day.  On the way home we broke it up into two 6 hr days.  I couldn't have done it alone with the DVDs, books, etc.  GL!

  • It's doable, probably tough but like the pps said its worth it.  And your girls are old so it might not be soo bad.

  • we have a dvd player.  I'm getting a few activity books for the girls.  And if push comes to shove, I don't have to work on Monday and can drive home Monday too.  My dad is giving me his hotel points for hotel rooms (wooo hooo!). And there is a chance my parents are riding with me so I'll have "help".

DH is staying home with Mitch...I feel a little bad for not bringing him, but for as short as its going to be, I don't think I can handle him coming with....he's the high maintenence one....the girls will be content for hours with teh DVD's.

  • I would NEVER do that....

    ditto

  • It won't be easy, but I'd do it. ?Especially if your parents ride with you. ?But even without them, your girls are old enough that they should be alright.
