CD confusion!

Okay- So I've read a quarter of a million how to, and what about sites on cloth diapers.

I've bought 4 KL0's (I hope that means Kissaluvs size zero because I am so not down with you whipper snappers lingo) and some thirsties Xsmall covers,

I've also ordered 5 or 6 BG 3.0 one size.

I realize this isn't enough but I am on a tight budget so I plan to buy as I go.

1st question: How many of each should I get if I plan to wash every other day or every other other day.

Is there a site to buy these cheaper and or in good used condition?

Also- When will I need wool soakers?  Just for night time?  I don't plan on doing the prefolds.  I'm pretty lazy so I'm going to easy cloth diaper route. Is there a cheaper place to buy wool soakers?  They all seem to be like $30.00 and up!

Re: CD confusion!

  • To do laundry every day and a half you'll need at least 20 diapers.  Some places have free shipping.  You can try diaperswappers for used and there are a couple other places, but I'm not sure because I never bought used.  You can also try your local Craigslist and occasionally make a good score.  Wool will be needed right off the bat if you're using the KL0's (yes, you got it right).  They require a cover.  The BG 3.0's do not since they are PUL lined diapers.  Monkeysnuggles on etsy is reasonable for soakers or you can try making your own.  I finished one tonight that was a I just picked up a crochet hook for the first time pattern.  Making your own will be the cheapest route.  Also, for cheaper diapers you could look at contoured diapers which are a step up from prefolds (still require a cover) and are generally cheaper than fitteds, AIO's and OS diapers.

  • Another place to buy used is www.jilliansdrawers.com.  They have a CD trial program that people send back what they don't like and they sell them off.  Also look at spots corner on hyena cart. Check the swap spot board here on the bump too, as a lot of us list our diapers there.

Something else to consider is buying manufacturer's seconds, which are new diapers with minor defects that don't affect performance.  Most cloth diaper sites have them listed under their clearance section.

Last I haven't tried them yet, but I did order some, are Little Lion fitteds.  They have them on sale right now for $6.50-$8 depending on which type of fitted you order.  www.little-lions.com/page53.html  Their classic fitted has good reviews on diaper pin, so I decided to try it at that price.
