Question about Prefolds

We currently use a diaper service compliments of my mother in law for 6 months. Anyhow, I just saw a post from the diaper service on Craigslist and she is selling prefolds that are slightly stained for .50 each. I was all for buying some off her, but DH isn't all for buying them. When I asked him why he said he wanted to know how they are disinfected after each use. I already emailed the diaper service asking this question, but was curious if you ladies know of how they do that? I tolf DH that us buying these slightly stained diapers is no different than us using the diaper service since other babies obvioulsy use the same diapers we do. Anyway, somebody please help me convince DH that it's ok to buy these prefolds!

Re: Question about Prefolds

  • Wow, just re-read my post and I don't make much sense. Sorry ladies!

  • it doesn't make sense that your husband is ok using the service diapers but not buying them.  that i don't get.  he doesn't realize it is exactly the same thing??

    Exactly what I said here.

This is what I was thinking. It's the same thing....

You could also point to your H that buying/selling used CD is pretty common and a great way to save money.

  • Just bleach them once, and they'll be disinfected.  Double bonus if you can sun them after bleaching.

How they were treated in between uses is not relevant.

$0.50 each is very reasonable, if that's what you're wondering.

  • Yeah, I realize it doesn't make any sense but now he's worried about using the diaper service. So I need to convince him that it's ok with buying the used prefolds and the diaper service

You're tellin' me! Wink He makes no sense.

  • i wasn't trying to be snarky at all, just trying to figure it out...you could even tell him that since you'll bleach them and disinfect them that way that there is nothing to worry about!  i'm sure they use super super hot water and some very non-EF detergents to make sure that they are clean between users...and you are being EF by cutting down on fuel and all that too.

and ditto, $0.50 is a great price!

    No worries Smile

I realize my hubby is a weirdo, I don't think he actually put it all together until I mentioned buying the used prefolds!

  • ok so let him know this.... those diapers are washed at like temps of 200+ degrees, and no bacteria of any kind can live at 200 degrees. to think otherwise would be silly :)

     good luck!
