My DD has picked a side of her crib that she constantly wants to chew on before she goes down for a nap. As soon as I noticed it I picked up some of these: https://www.amazon.com/KidKusion-2700-Kidkusion-Gummi-Crib/dp/B00014PLAO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1252850452&sr=8-1
She has now figured out how to pull this off and chew on the wood underneath and her crib is starting to look really bad, ugh!
Re: What are you doing to prevent chewing on crib rail?

We got something like this that tied on to the crib. Can't find the exact one we got but this is the idea.

We use the Gummi Guard as well... you can re attach it using a blow dryer on hottest setting. It should stick on pretty well. DS has eaten big chunks out of the crib rail (before we got the Gummi). I use the extra wide one
I also made the one from babyrabies.com. I made a few small changes...but it was really easy and it's very cute!

ditto. i have a metal crib, so it's a nonissue for me, but I just made one for a shower gift and it looks great and ties on!
