What extra parts to buy with Medela PISA?

I heard from you guys that it's a good idea to keep some extra parts handy. Can you be specific as to which parts exactly? Thanks!

Re: What extra parts to buy with Medela PISA?

  • i have extra breast shields with bottles stashed at different locations in case i forget them

  • Those white membranes, they get lost in the sink/dishwasher easily.

I have 3 sets of breast shields and assembly parts, so I can pump and not have to wash right away, but once at the end of the day.

(we also battled Thrush, and having extra sets helped so much!)

  • I have extra breast shields and membranes.  If you are planning on bfing tell your hospital you want to try and pump when you are there.  The should send up a hospital grade Medela Pump and a starter kit with all the extra parts you will need for your pump at home and they bill your insurance for this!  I put my breast shields in a ziploc baggie and refrigerate them between uses so I only have to wash them at night or the morning.  One more thing, I don't like Medela's storage bags.  I've had milk leak past the ziploc.  I really like the Lansinoh, so far the are wonderful.  GL!

  • An extra pack of membranes and valves is pretty key IMO.  Those membranes get lost easily.  I also got a pair of the soft fit breast flanges, those are nice.  And extra assembly parts so I have two complete pump parts.  Nice for when I don't wash one set or I really need to sterilize.
