Breastfeeding

breastfeeding Q and A at my shower?

My first shower is tomorrow and I'm a little nervous about my nosey relatives and friends asking me if I'm going to breastfeed.  I know that will be the first thing out of some mouths (it already has been).

I have made a decision, however I find it to be a sensitive topic for me and I'm hoping to find a good way to answer this question...

Any suggestions?

  • I think if you decide to BF you should be proud of it and if not it's, definately your choice.  I would keep the answer short and not make too much of a deal about it, change the subject.

  • You could say, "We'll see what works best when the baby arrives."

I was planning to breastfeed and was OK with sharing that, so I always said I was going to give breastfeeding a try and see if it worked out for us.

GL and have fun at your shower!

  • If it makes you feel any better, my cousin asked if I had stretch marks at my shower....you could hear a pin drop. I really like pp "we'll see what works best when the baby arrives". I've found people really just like to talk at showers, esp. other moms. Just nod and smile. Usually a general remark will get them off your back & talking amongst themselves. Good luck & have fun!!!
