Gift

What was the BEST gift you got when your babies were born??

I ask b/c one of my best friends just had her lil' guy two days ago and I want to send her and her DH something to welcome the baby. I wanted to do like a meal delivery or something but I don't know places in Scottsdale, AZ (where they live) so I am thinking maybe a gift basket of some sort?

Or should I focus on a baby gift?? I already got her stuff for her baby w/ her shower last month, but am wondering what you ladies who have already delivered could hopefully suggest....

THANKS!

Re: Gift

  • What about something like Schwan's or another food delivery place that is all over?

I know one of my favorite things was when our neighbor brought us food for the night and I didn't even have to think about dinner it was very nice.

  • How about a gift card to a resturant that does car side to out. We got an applebees gift card and it was a great gift. Food always is the best thing we got.

  • You can never go wrong with food.  Either finding a delivery place (maybe post on the local board to get help with suggestions), gift cards to chain restaurants that offer takeout, staple items like diapers and stuff, although shipping diapers seems silly so a gift card to Target, Walmart, BRU is always wonderful.  We got lots of gc after the twins came and it was so helpful.  Also, check out her registry and see what is remaining, there could be something on there she wants and hasn't gotten yet.

Personally, I wouldn't use the more frilly gifts like massages, pedicures etc cause it's just too hard in the beginning to get away for things like that, or to bother with bubble baths and lotions, etc.  I would prefer the more practical stuff.  Oh, a gift card to a cleaning service!  I would have given anything if someone had dropped off a cleaning lady at my house.

  • I agree with finding a way to get them food, or something off the registry, or diapers, wipes, or a GC.

  • for me- diapers and gift certs to buy diapers was the best :)

or a TON of batteries in all sizes is a great gift.

I'm all about practical things. :)

I would give anything for that NOW.  Is 3 years post partum too late to ask?  Stick out tongue

Ha! No kidding, our place is a wreck about 10 minutes after we clean.

Batteries - what a great suggestion!!!  We had to go out and buy a ton and that was the last thing we felt like doing.  I also agree with diapers/wipes.

But in addition to all the necessary items, one of my favorite gifts was sent from a friend across the county.  She had 4 burp clothes monogrammed with the boys names (2 each) and they are always my favorite ones to use.  I love anything monogrammed and I also think of her everytime I use them.

It is a practical item but done in a pretty way.
