Sorry this is so early (and that I completely spaced and forgot to post last week!!). ?My mat leave starts mid-October... until then... early to bed and (way too) early to rise!
This is a check-in for women who are planning to have, or have already had, a natural, unmedicated, childbirth experience. ?We support each other, share our experiences, and maintain an enthusiastic and optimistic approach to pregnancy and birth.
Because this is the SAIF board, we have all dealt with the stress, doubt, pain, and sorrow of infertility. ?If you want to feel reconnected with your body and have realized that, although the conception of our children may have been a medical experience, their births can be intimate, beautiful, natural, and free from unnecessary medical intervention, please feel free to join us! ?Ultimately, the goal of any pregnancy is a healthy baby and a healthy mom. ?We are supportive of all women and how they choose (or need) to birth. ?This is simply a forum to discuss and support the choice to birth without drugs and unnecessary medical procedures.
Check-ins are on Fridays! ?If you want your name to be added, please reply to the post with your bump name, EDD or the date you delivered, and whether you plan to have your baby (or had your baby) at home, in a birthing center, or in a hospital.

Natural Childbirth QOTW:
Why did you make the childbirth choices that you did? ?Why did you choose Bradley classes, Hypnobirthing, a birthing center, a doula, a midwife, or whatever else you may have chosen? ?What was it about these choices that appealed to you?

Re: ***Natural Childbirth Check-In!!***
QOTW: Quite simply because I knew that going natural with little to no intervention was the safest way to have a baby. No more than that. Having the baby at home was a decision based on the fact that I thought it would be near impossible to have the birth I wanted in a hospital and having it in the birth center was identical (safety-wise) to a home birth but I didn't have to drive anywhere and I would be most comfortable in my own surroundings.
Favorite show? Golden Girls will always be my fav!!!!

It just seemed like the natural thing to do: the way it should be done (if possible). My SIL was an inspiration to me. I'd heard good things about midwives with regard to how they allow you to be more "in charge" during childbirth than an OB would. That sold me, for sure.

Hi girls! I feel like I have missed check in for a few weeks in a row - sorry!!
QOTW: I chose midwives at a birthing center because I felt that they matched with my birthing philiosophy. I felt like getting the birth I wanted with my OB practice would have been a fight every step of the way and I was not getting any answers from them. Also, all the interventions and meds freak me out wayyyy more than a natural childbirth does. I am taking hypnobirthing based on the recs of many of you and my birthing center.
For Fun: Oooh! I have many and am so glad it is fall tv again. Brothers and Sisters & Grey's Anatomy are right at the top!
