One of my good friends is 16 weeks pregnant.  She recently had a CVS and it showed a chromosomal abnormality with the baby.  They are doing some additional testing, but what they know so far is that a piece of chromosome 9 broke off and reattached backwards.  They do not know what this will mean.  The testing they are doing should give them more information but it's not a known (or at least not a common) condition.  They will have to wait at least another 2 weeks for more information.  They may choose to terminate based on what they find out.  The waiting must be so hard.

She has a beautiful, healthy two year old daughter but has had two mc's since then.

I cry everytime I think about it.  I wish there was something I could do for her.

Disclaimer:  this is not intended to start any sort of debate about terminating or not in this type of situation.  I have no idea what I would do and will not judge my friend for whatever decision she and her husband make.

That has to be so hard.  You said it's not something they've seen before, so they can't even give her some ideas of what to expect or how to prepare.  I guess the best you can do is be there for her and listen to her.

{{hugs}} I would be very sad too.  Just be a great friend and be there.  I am sure she needs that more than anything.  That and nonbiased support- which it seems like you are already providing!

For 48 hours we thought there might be something similar with DS.  My heart goes out to them.  No one should ever have to be in that position.  It is an impossible situation.
