Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Anyone get the First Look u/s between 11 - 13 wks?

I didn't get this screening with jack but I'm considering it with this one. Did you? What are the pros/cons, iyo?

And is it entirely to early to pick up the baby's sex? :)

  • We had one done at 13 weeks because they couldnt tell how far along I was. SO it was basically just to measure the fetus. I believe it is too early to tell at that stage. No cons, pro was I got to meet our DD earlier than expected :)

  • We did NT both pregnancies. It does give peace of mind.  Don't trust gender predictions.  They called the cupcakes correctly but Harm was supposed to be a pretty little girl.

  • I guess that the con would be utilizing medical services that you don't really need, thereby jacking up the overall price of health insurance and health care.

Also, I guess that if you get some news that something may be wrong, you have to decide what to do.

Other than that, all pros.  I had a screening u/s done at 13 weeks.

  • We had the NT scan done for #2. I'm glad we did. Not that I had any specific reason to worry about chromosomal issues, but it was good to hear our #s come back low-risk.  It was also, of course, awesome to see the little one.

I guess the downside is that there is some cost (even with insurance, we paid 10% of the total cost, I believe). If you have bad or no insurance, it'd be VERY expensive. And of course if your numbers don't come back so great, then you have additional worry, additional testing to decide on/go through, and perhaps a decision about whether to terminate the pregnancy.  Some people would just rather not know if something might be wrong.

And yes, too early for gender.
