I am planning to spend between $750-1000 for DS set. It will have to last him until he leaves for college, but I am not investing in heirloom furniture.
AKA KnittyB*tch DS - December 2006 DD - December 2008
We got DD a new full size bed, a wide dresser, a mirror, a tall dresser and a nightstand and it was around $2,000.00. But, it should last her a verryyyy long time.
The set from his crib was really transitional. But it didn't come with a bed so we had a guy custom make a bed frame to match the furniture -- it was really inexpensive!
We had DD's custom made. It is sold birch wood and hand built. The full size bed, mattress/springs, and dresser with mirror was $4000. The nightstand would have been another $600 so we decided to wait and see if she really needed one...I'm sure we'll end up with it eventually.
Our granddaughter's "big girl" furniture is Stanley's Ma Marie, in vintage black. The full headboard and footboard and side rails, nightstand and tall dresser were about $2,500.00. We are buying the armoire for Christmas. The good news is that this isn't just a child's set, it will be appropriate in another bedroom or guest room in the future.
We actually just bought DD's today. We got the twin bed, dresser, mirror, nightstand, and mattress and boxspring for $1100. It is a really good quality set and we shouldnt have to but another one. We hit up a good extended Labor Day sale. It would have normally been close to $2000 for the set.
