I set her clock back

Today was DD's first field trip of preschool.  We went to a farm.  Played on haystacks and in dirt and then took a long tractor ride with 5 stops where we got to pick BAGS full of veggies at each stop.  It was hot.  It was dirty.  It was fun.  DD was exhausted.

She fell asleep 30 seconds before we got home and that's the kiss of death for naptime.  I took her up for "quiet time" since it was only a little later than her usual quiet time.  Read her a story.  Put her in bed.

She called to me 15 minutes later that she had to poop so she got up, etc.

She has a digital clock in her room that is a blessing and a curse.  The blessing is that she'll actually stay in her room until 7 AM now.  But she knows that she can get up from quiet time at 3 PM and she won't stay a minute more.

By the time she got done with the potty it was 2:40 and I really just needed some more time to myself, so I set the clock back an hour.

Re: I set her clock back

  • Ha! I would so do something like that!
  • I'd say smart mommy, not evil.   Devil

  • HA!  On days like that, I have told Rory that I will set the timer on the microwave and when she hears it go off she can come out, but until then she has to lay down and close her eyes.  Then I just push some random buttons on the microwave to make her think I'm setting the timer.  An hour later, she will come out after a nice nap asking if the timer went off! Smile
  • I guess I'm evil too :)  The digital clock in DS's room is always set 20 minutes late ... I just need those few extra minutes in the morning (he gets up at "7" also), and what he doesn't know won't hurt him - lol.
  • Not an evil mommy at all, an evil GENIUS!!!  I will have to remember this little trick for the future.
