Breastfeeding

I admire you all so much!

Just wanted to say thanks for all the encouraging words the last couple weeks as I've struggled to try EBF. I'm not producing enough and LO doesn't transfer enough (we found out she gets a whole whopping 13 ml in 30 minutes at the breast) so I've gone to pumping what I can, and supplementing the rest. I don't know how long that is going to last either as it gets very dissapointing only seeing less than an ounce at most sessions despite trying everything I can. I have a huge respect for all you that EBF and EP, you are some very strong and patient women! I never in my wildest dreams thought something that should be so "natural" could be so hard! You all are my heroes

  • Keep up what you are doing!!  You may never have enough, but your supply could take a turn for the better!  I know at two weeks, I did not have enough for ds...but I do now.  I hear you...bf'ing can be SO hard!

  • dont give up! i can only imagine how discouraged you must feel but keep trying. BFing is so much more frustrating than i ever couldve imagined but i am getting used to it. i am one of those people who researched and prepared myself to EBF and ended up having to supplement in the beginning and dealt with nipple confusion because of it. even if BFing doesnt work out for you, you are obviously a great mom because you care so much...GL!
  • You are doing great! I have horrible supply (when I pumped, which I don't really do much anymore, I would get less than half an oz. per pumping session) and have had to supplement heavily since 2 weeks, and am still going strong BFing what I can at almost 3 months. Just wanted to give you some encouragement that even if it seems really hard to do both, it can be done long term.
