Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

I reprimanded someone else's kid today.

And I don't regret it at all.  We went to this indoor play area that had all kinds of stations.  One of the stations was a bounce house.  DS was in there with 2 other little ones.  I stood at the entrance and watched him - one of the kids (about 2 or 2 1/2) bounced on top of him and then proceeded to slap him on the face with an open palm.  That is probably the fastest I have ever moved.  His caretaker (I believe she was a nanny) stood there and did nothing.  I got DS out of the bounce house quickly and moved to a different station.

Two minutes later while we were playing at the lego station the same kid comes up and starts hitting DS.  The nanny was no where to be found.  I pulled DS away and told the kid "please do not hit him.  That is not kind".  I was absolutely furious (not at the kid, but at the nanny for not watching him).  She wandered over and I told her that he had hit my son again and that I had told him to stop.  She looks at the kid and says "no pop pop, do you want me to pop you?"  Geez, wonder why he is a hitter.  Ugh.

  • I would have done the same thing. I probably wouldn't have been as nice.

The nannies around here piss me off. They tend to just sit there on the benches and chatter amongst themselves, not paying attention to the kids. It's awful. You are getting paid more than I am to NOT do your job. Awesome.

  • WHOA. i definitely would have asked him to stop. and i would have freaked out at the nanny. it doesn't sound like you yelled at the kid, just told him not to hit, which is totally fine. i wonder if his parents know or care that he has such a craptastic nanny....
