Breastfeeding

Boob size Vs Milk quantity

I know they say that it doesn't matter how big your boobs are, but that if you want to BF no matter how small they are you can still produce enough BM to feed LO.  But I gotta say... my left boob is a cup size bigger than the right boob and I make almost twice as much with that one than the smaller one! And I don't have small boobs by any means C/D.  So I can't imagine the difference if I had an A cup! Just an observation.  If I didn't have lefty making so much then it would be much harder to build up my frozen stash!

Anyone else same story?

Re: Boob size Vs Milk quantity

  • Bigger breast = larger storage capacity (if you will) That is the only difference, not in the acutal amount produced.

  • Bigger breast = more fatty tissue or more milk glands.  I wear a C cup (well, in my left breast, anyway), and couldn't sustain a baby solely on my breastmilk to save my life.  My mil, on the other hand, is pretty flat and tells me that she never had supply problems...  That said, my larger breast does produce slightly more milk.
  • Mine are the same size but my lefty is an absolute super boob. I don't know why they're different but apparently it's very common!
