how long do you pump?

i've beenpumping for 15 minutes now and for the past 7 or so i've gotten nothing. I hate to sit here and waste time waiting for nothing, but I also don't want to cut my sessions short if more will come.

Re: how long do you pump?

  • Usually 10-15 minutes......I don't usually go over 20.  But pumping a few minutes past when the flow 'stops' helps boost your supply.

  • when at home, i pumped for 15 minutes, sometimes 20.  Now that I'm at work and can pump handsfree at my desk while I continue to work, I'm pumping 30 minutes and find that I get another good letdown after about 22 minutes.
  • iusually pump 15 - 20 min

  • You are suppose to go 15 mins or wait until 2-3 mins after you stop dripping, especially when you are just starting to build your supply.  Now I sometimes pump 20-30 mins to get all of it.
  • I pump for 7 mintues now and make enough milk for DD while I'm at work.  When I first started pumping I would do 10-15 minutes.
