I keep meaning to post this ...We recently found out that a $25 charge was erroneously put on DH's credit report. It dropped his score by 140 points!
It wasn't even that much of a hassle to get it removed, but we caught it the month that it happened. A few papers to mail in and a few phonecalls solved the problem.
We used to pull our credit reports every 6 mos but have gotten lazy. We both have perfect credit and would like to keep it that way! So here's my PSA to check yours more often, too!
Re: PSA: Check your credit reports!
I totally agree! I never checked my report..and when we tried building a house I was told by the bank that my credit score was low considering I had pretty decent credit for the most part. I checked and found out that back when I was in college....someone had opened a phone account in my name and had an address listed on my report that I NEVER lived at! This account stayed open and eventually was turned over to a collections agency! I had to call the police department and write letters to the credit agencies and have my landlord write a letter proving that I lived at a totally different address at the time this account was opened!!!! I felt so violated tyring to prove my own identity, and to think I never would have known this if I wouldn't have tried applying for a mortgage. I took me another year for my credit to be restored to what it always should have been.
***Bright...I seriously love your new siggy! Dana is absolutely adorable in that pic!
We found out about the problem from a friend who's in finance, so we didn't go through normal web sites. I have no idea what site DH uses when he checks. Sorry.
