need some help with Prevacid..just starting

It says on the directions to melt a 15 mg. tab in 4 mls of water. So, if we do half the tablet do i dissolve it 2 mls of water? I heard from someone that they take the half tablet and dissolve it in 5mls of water..do i need that much? I am going to shake it in the water in a syringe and then give it to LO.

Also, about hoe long does it seem to work.? I am trying to figure out when I will give it to DS...maybe I should give it to him at bedtime so it works for laying down and will help him sleep? But then will it work during the day too as well or no?
