I just talked to my pedi and we are switching DS from zantac over to prevacid ( i hope we have good results) He is on the max of zantac for his weight ( 1 ml 2x a day) and his reflux is really flaring up and he has been miserable..sleeping less...eating less...crying and just fussy..i feel so bad for him. So, my pedi told me that 4 months is really the peak for reflux and it generally tends to get better around 6 months. 4 months is the peak?! and 4 month wakeful too..jeeze! When did you notice an improvement in LO's reflux?
Re: reflux mommas please come in
well our LOs are about the same age .... the GI specialist told us the same at 4-5 months it gets worse and generally around 7-9 it gets better and tapers off ... BUT if by 12-18 months it's still there and bad DD would have to have a tube down her for 24 hrs to check a bunch of stuff.
She too was at the max for Zantac and it wore off after 2 hrs!!!! She is a lot happier on Prev and having cereal in her formula
GL!
we switched to prevacid at 4 months. His reflux was horrible. Also, the pedi recommended we start solids to help. Cole wasn't gaining weight well either.
The solids have helped, as well as the prevacid. As we approach 6 months, I can say his reflux is improving. It's still bad but it's not like it was between 3 and 4 months.
Are you doing rice cereal at all to help? That helped LO.
